Introduction to Rugged Mobile Printers...
Rugged printers are designed for use in harsh environments such as the industrial shop floor or outdoors. Like other mobile or portable printers they include a printer mechanism, interface electronics and power supply in a ready to use, compact case. Rugged printers also have special features which usually include water resistant and shock proof casing so they can withstand the dust and knocks of factory use or the cold and damp weather outdoors.
The Design Award winning, i-family of rugged printers include models printing on 58, 80 and 112mm wide paper. They are dust and water resistant certified to IP54 and can withstand a drop onto concrete of up to 1.5 metres. They are powered by high capacity Lithium ion batteries giving 1 hour's continuous printing on a full charge. In real life applications this is easily enough to last much longer than a normal workday. A full re-charge then takes just 4 hours using the supplied charger. Communication is by serial RS232C and Bluetooth wireless interfaces but there is also a Wireless LAN version available as an option.
The two and three inch models are truly mobile and can easily be carried or belt mounted using the clip provided or the optional shoulder strap. The larger four inch model is still very portable especially if carried with the shoulder strap. MSR (Magnetic Stripe Reader) and SCR (Smart Card Reader) options are available on some models.
